Does the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria, hold true to bible prophecy? Let's read further to see what we can find out. The worst earthquake recorded, happened in May 22nd, 1960. The earthquake struck the town of Valdivia in southern Chile and has become known as the Great Chilean Earthquake. It is thought to have measured 9.5 on the moment magnitude scale (MMS). Two tectonic plates shifted by over 30 meters, releasing huge volumes of energy in seismic waves. Entire cities were reduced to rubble in just 10 minutes. Some 6,000 people died and resulting tsunamis killed 130 people in Japan and over 60 in Hawaii. While the US was only marginally affected by that Chilean earthquake, four years later on Good Friday, it became the epicenter of the second most powerful quakes ever recorded. The 9.2 magnitude Great Alaskan Earthquake lasted some four minutes and destroyed large parts of the infrastructure in southern and central Alaska. The Alaskan capital, Anchorage sustained massive damage, with entire roads being destroyed. Post-quake tsunamis affected a series of coastal towns, with 139 people drowning in the ensuing floods.
I was sitting at my desk on yesterday and felt my desk and computer shake mildly when I got up to see if anyone else felt anything there were many coworkers who felt the same aftershock. I learned from the news that "an earthquake struck the East Coast of the United States on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, causing buildings to shake and rattling nerves from Maryland to Maine". When devastating earthquake struck southern Turkey and northwest Syria on February 6, 2023, killing over 4,300 people and injuring thousands more we were blessed on yesterday. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake destroyed thousands of buildings in both countries. The quake, one of the strongest to hit the region in more than 100 years, struck 23 kilometers (14.2 miles) east of Nurdagi, in Turkey's Gaziantep province, at a depth of 24.1 kilometers (14.9 miles), according US Geological Survey. The Word of God, speak on these things, however you'll have to read it and understand for yourself, because very few people will talk about it. In the Gospel of Mark 13: 8 it tells us this, "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows." The word of God tells us specifically what shall take place before the return of Jesus Christ. Oh, and by the way the word also tells us "And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet." The bible tell us in Matthew 24:8, "All these are the beginning of sorrows." so as believers in Jesus Christ, we must know, understand and be ready.
