The writer of the book of Matthew tell us how treacherous the end times will be. In Matthew Chapter 24 this one particular verse has always stood out to me "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." What is "lawlessness" well, simply stated, it is "with out law!" The dictionary tells us that lawlessness is "a state of disorder due to a disregard of the law." We've been living in a time where those who have sworn to up hold the law have disregarded human life and those they swore to protect. This did not start with Daunte Wright, Andre Hill, Manuel Ellis, George Floyd, Sandra Bland, Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, Aura Roser, Stephon Clark, Trevon Martin, Botam Jean, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown and now Tyre Nicoles. If you recall, the bible tell us that Jesus was charged falsely and killed, so this will not stop at least, not in my life time. I grew up listening to stories told by my Father and Grand Parents and I always new that in order to survive, I had to be careful, careful in regards to where I went, what I said, how I said it and who I said anything too. In The Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 24, the writer tells us this, “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come." If you speak with any believer today, you'll find that very few, if any are talking about Jesus's return. Jesus tells us to be watchful because we do not know the day or the hour in which He shall return, so watch! “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Finally, Jesus tells us in John Chapter 16, that these things will come upon us, but in Him we, still have peace. "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" I must admit, that being cheerful is extremely hard, I try however, it escapes me.
