📖 Scripture Reading: John 1:1–5 (KJV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
✍️ Poetic Reflection: The Light the Darkness Could Not Hold
In the beginning, before breath spoke sound,
Before stars took flight or time was bound,
The Word was there—unseen, yet near,
With God, as God—so crystal clear.
By Him were skies and oceans poured,
The mountains raised, the thunders roared.
The dust was shaped, the soul was kissed—
Creation sang, for none was missed.
All things were made by His command,
By sovereign voice, not human hand.
No leaf, no light, no grain of sand,
Exists but by His word once planned.
In Him was life—pure, holy flame,
Not borrowed breath, but Heaven’s name.
And this life lit the hearts of men,
Restoring what was lost through sin.
The Light still shines through shadows deep,
Through valleys dark, through silent grief.
It breaks the tomb, the curse, the chain—
And whispers hope through winds of pain.
And though the night may raise its cry,
It cannot dim or justify.
The darkness tried, but could not win—
The Light pressed in, and burned within.
So Word made flesh, O Radiant One,
We praise the Christ, the Risen Son.
From age to age, His truth resounds—
The Light still shines where grace abounds.
🌅 Devotional Thought:
Before the resurrection morning ever came, before the cross, before Bethlehem—even before time—Jesus was. He was the Word, the Creator, and the Light that no darkness could extinguish.
This is the foundation of our faith: Jesus is not merely a man who rose—He is God who came down, life incarnate, and light unquenchable. His resurrection wasn’t just a comeback—it was the unstoppable unveiling of eternal glory.
When we feel overwhelmed by darkness—whether it's fear, doubt, sin, or sorrow—we can rest in this truth: The Light still shines.
🙏 Prayer:
Eternal Word, Light of the world,
You were before all things, and in You all things hold together.
Shine in our hearts today, and remind us that no darkness can overcome You.
Let Your resurrection light lead us, transform us, and fill us with the joy of eternal life.
We worship You, Jesus—our Creator, Redeemer, and risen King.
Amen.
