He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Isaiah 2:4
With the Messiah on His throne in Jerusalem, the world will enjoy uninterrupted peaceful conditions. Warfare will continue to characterize human history until the Prince of Peace ("For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." 9:6), returns to earth to put an end to it. The One we know as Jesus is the Judge of all the world. There will be no war, or even thoughts of war, during this time. There will be perfect peace. Jesus is the King of Peace. The bible tells us also in Isaiah 11:6 "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them." What a mighty God we serve. Hebrews 8:10-11 states that the covenant with the house of Israel involves God putting His laws in their minds and hearts, becoming their God, and having them as His people. It also mentions that there will be no need to teach others to know the Lord, as everyone will have that knowledge. The house of Israel extends beyond the Hebrew nation to include all believers in Christ. While the Hebrews represent physical Israel, Christians represent spiritual Israel. Galatians 3:29 affirms that those who belong to Christ are considered Abraham's descendants and heirs to the promise. A time will come when there will be peace on earth and in heaven, with God reigning as our King as stated in the scriptures.
Isaiah 11:6-10, tells us "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. Isaiah And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious." The referenced scriptures are speaking of that wonderful time when the devil is bound up. There will be no evil where Jesus reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords. There will be no danger from anything, when the devil is bound. Jesus, who is the King of Peace, brings perfect peace to all of mankind and all the animals, and in fact, the elements of the earth. All of the animals, mentioned in the verse above, are violent against man. From the little child leading them, you can see the extent of the peace that will reign, because the King of Peace is among them. This will be a glorious time of no problems. We see in this, animals that had been enemies in the past that now will not fear each other. The Peace extends to all the animals, as well as the people. The whole world will be at peace. Both the asp and the cockatrice would have been deadly to anyone, if they bit them. We see, in this, that the curse spoken on the serpent against the woman in the Garden of Eden has been broken. Jesus has won. Peace extends even unto the serpent.
"Filled with the knowledge of the Lord": When the Lord returns to establish His new covenant with Israel (Jeremiah 31:34), all will have a deep understanding of Him. This knowledge will not only be possessed by the people, but also by the animals and the earth itself. Just as water covers the sea, the peace of the Lord Jesus will envelop the entire earth. The term "holy mountain" symbolizes the community of God, the Christians. "In that day": The era of universal peace will arrive during the future reign of the Lord. "An ensign of the people": The Root of Jesse will attract non-Jews who will inhabit the forthcoming kingdom (49:6; 52:10; 60:3; 66:18). Paul interpreted this verse as also referring to God's ministry to Gentiles in the church age (Romans 15:12). The Messiah is once again identified as the root of Jesse, clearly indicating His Jewish lineage as He stands as a symbol for the people. However, Isaiah also suggests that this standard will be sought after by the Gentiles. This prophecy foretells a time when salvation will be extended to both the gentiles and the Jews. When the King of Peace (Jesus Christ) comes, there is perfect peace.
